Casino Controller

Description

Job is based in Las Vegas, NV - travel required 1 week per month to Wendover, NV.

Supporting our Wendover, NV properties, the Casino Controller will oversee all gaming audits, and gaming control board reporting activities. Responsibilities include handling financial reporting tasks and ensuring compliance with Nevada Gaming Control Board MICs and regulations, help with budget planning and financial strategizing for gaming departments for Nevada Properties. The Controller reports to the Nevada Director of Finance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to:

• Works closely with Compliance to meet the Nevada Gaming Control Minimum Internal Control Requirements.
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Manage and comply with all Minimum Internal Control and Internal Controls daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual requirements.
• Manage Gaming Audit, Internal Audit, External Audit and Compliance requests.
• Manage day-to-day operation off the accounting department including supervision of gaming audit accounting staff.
• Issue timely and complete Gaming Audit audits.
• Oversee the accounting operations of all gaming department including control systems, and transaction-processing operations.
• Reconcile Gaming Revenue source documents to the General Ledger and book all gaming revenue journals.
• Understand the operations of business and maintain ongoing communication with necessary parties to ensure compliance with state regulations. Bridge the knowledge of gaming operation performance and operational effectiveness.
• Review and prepare gaming exception reviews.
• Prepare and maintain compliance with Nevada Gaming Control taxing authorities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from Accredited College or University. Preferred
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a manager role.
• Minimum of two (2) years progressive experience as a Casino Controller in the gaming industry or comparable experience.

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Maintain working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Strong understanding of GAAP accounting.
• Proficiency in MS Office required and strong MS Excel skills.
• Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics/Business Central or related Accounting System preferable.
• Highly analytical with strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of general ledger posting process and experience preparing and posting journal entries.
• Ability to work effectively and independently while managing concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities.
