Maverik/Kum & Go is looking to add an Environmental Compliance Manager to our Des Moines, Iowa, team! We are searching for the right person to manage EPA and DEQ compliance for 400 convenience stores.
In this role, you'll interface with regulators and coordinate UST testing and inspections to ensure Maverik/Kum & Go continues to protect the environment and maintain high standards of regulatory compliance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages state- by- state federal regulatory environmental compliance reporting for USTs at all Company locations and schedules annual triennial testing of UST components and leak detection devices
- Oversees and updates policies and procedures to ensure compliance and manages in-house online documentation repository for all compliance related documents
- Monitors regulatory compliance changes in each state and communicates changes to stakeholders in a timely manner
- Manages process for maintaining appropriate operator qualification/training and certification for employees at all Company locations, abiding by federal rules and the rules pertaining to the state the store resides in
- Works with Risk Management for UST system insurance coverages, whether self, agency, or state insured; and maintains documentation library identifying all systems covered and any other pertinent information
- Manages state insurance requirements through state insurance fund and/or commercial insurance obtained through Maverik’s Risk Assessment Department, filing registration change for new or decommissioned assets, and renewals of UST systems insurance and provide necessary reports to the Director
- Prepares appropriate documentation prior to the scheduled regulatory inspection to minimize exposure to potential fines and works with regulatory bodies to resolve compliance issues within regulatory and budget constraints

Qualifications: Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
- Class A/B Operator Certification in select states preferred
Qualifications: Experience
- 5 years’ experience with underground storage tank insurance process management, registration
- 5 years’ experience with environmental compliance
- 2 years’ experience of environmental agency resolution and negotiation
