Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience is seeking a passionate science advocate to join our Public Engagement team. The Education Outreach Coordinator brings interactive STEM activities to K-12 classrooms in Palm Beach and Martin Counties and represents MPFI at public facing STEM events in the community.

In this role you will be on the front line of our mission to inspire young people to adopt a lifelong love of science. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, creative, good with children, organized, and knowledgeable about neuroscience and scientific research.
Essential Functions
- Executes a comprehensive K-12 education outreach program both in-person and virtual under the direct supervision of the Head of Outreach and Advancement;
- Participates in science fairs, career days, and other STEM-related events;
- Supports the Head of Outreach and Advancement with summer internship programs for high school students;
- Plan and implement mobile educator professional development workshops.
- Offers guidance and in-person support to the teachers that attend MPFI’s workshops to help them implement STEM-related classes;
- Assists the Head of Outreach and Advancement with events including the Max Brain Challenge and Brain Exploration Day;
- Supports the Communication and Advancement departments by providing written material about Education Outreach events for social media and press releases;
- Supports the Advancement department with public and donor-facing events such as tours of the Institute;
- Other duties as assigned or as appropriate.
- M.S. in neuroscience, cell biology, or bachelor’s and equivalent work experience;
- Minimum of two (2) years of research experience in a laboratory setting;
- Must possess strong office computing experience on Apple and PC platforms;
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset;
- Must be able to communicate complex ideas in an easily understandable and accessible way;
- Must possess attention to detail and accuracy and excellent communication skills;
- Must possess high levels of discretion, professional judgment, ethics, and confidentiality;
- Must be willing to have a flexible work schedule that includes occasional weekend events;
- Must have a valid driver’s license, be able to pass a driver’s history verification, and be comfortable driving a large vehicle.
