What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN School position at Maxim Healthcare Staffing?
The School Nurse assumesresponsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing processand the delivery of student/client care and/or contracted services in a schoolsetting. The School Nurse may also be in a supervisory position within the contractedservices. The School Nurse provides services in accordance with MaximHealthcare’s philosophy, standards, policies and physician orders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilizes the nursing process toplan, implement and evaluate student’s care needs
- Demonstrates on each assignmentthe provision of skill nursing care in accordance with prescribed orders/IHP
- Performs interventions,treatments and medications administration according to the identifiedpriorities as outlined in the IHP
- Monitors and documentseffectiveness of interventions, treatments and medications
- Completes documentation perclient expectations
- Coordinates and facilitatesservices as requested between the school, local health agencies and othercommunity resources to meet the needs of the student
- Communicates with the schooldistrict personnel about student’s plan of care/IHP
- Notifies District SchoolNurse/Maxim Supervisor /Parent/Physician as outlined in the IHP regarding thefollowing:
Physician notification to obtainnecessary orders
Collaborates with school/educationpersonnel/other health agencies as requested, to design and meet student’shealth care needs
Evaluates and assures student safetyat all times
Adheres to Maxim Healthcare andschool district policies
Maintains accuracy in student healthrecord
Supports professional practice byobserving the following:
Nurse Practice Act
Standards of Nursing Practice
Standards of Patient Care
Standards of accrediting body (The Joint Commission)
State laws
Educational Codes and Federal Laws as described in the ADA and IDEA
Patient Bill of Rights
Maxim Healthcare and schooldistrict policies
- At request of school districtparticipates in student care conferences/Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- LPN/LVNs should direct questionsregarding orders and changes in condition to a Supervising RN (DN and/orClinical Supervisor)
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate of an accreditedregistered, practical or vocational nursing program
- Licensed as a LicensedPractical, Licensed Vocational or Registered Nurse in state(s) where practicing
- One year of professionalexperience, preferred
- Complies with acceptedprofessional standard and practice
- Willingness to participate inskill advancement, if applicable
- Participation and completion ofMaxim’s Competency program
- Current CPR
- PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (percontract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state andlocal requirements
- Successful completion of newhire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patientconfidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectivelyelicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, butnot limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communicationskills; proficiency in the English language may be required
- Computer proficiency required
