What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift - Double Disc Machine Operator position at MAYHEW STEEL PRODUCTS INC?
Deerfield Packaging is looking to employ a machine operator for their double disc grinding operation. Position will also be responsible for loading the lady foot pry bar line in between double disc jobs.
Job Characteristics
- Run the double disc machine, used for finishing touches and tight tolerance manual grinding
- Perform basic maintenance on machines, including changing belts and replacing the arm’s gripping mechanisms
- Visually inspect tools for accurate measurements and consistent production
- Use scales/gauges to craft tools with narrow margins of errors
- Prepare and complete jobs for grinding robot between double disc jobs
- Identify the correct tool specifications and select the pre-programed operation for each job
- Position and align tools on conveyor belt to feed into grinding robot
- Continuously monitor robot performance and job progress to maximize uptime
- Participate in training new employees when needed
Required Skills
- Able to read blueprints and match with tool specifications
- Basic computer use and familiarity
- Close attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Written and verbal English communication skills
- Able to work with a team to accomplish company goals
- Strict attention and adherence to safety guidelines including wearing all personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Willingness to keep and maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Adherence to attendance policy
- Participate in training new employees when needed
Required Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education/Experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing/industrial facility
