Overview

The Controller is a key member of the leadership team responsible for overseeing all financial activities for the company. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of the accounting team and IT, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and implementing effective financial controls. Reporting directly to the COO, the Controller has the opportunity to participate in the strategic direction of a growing Home Building organization.

Responsibilities

● Oversee all aspects of accounts payable and receivable, payroll, benefits administration, IT, and accounting.

● Leads quarterly and annual planning initiatives, including reporting on company benchmarks and KPI’s to measure overall performance.

● Produce and share monthly financial statements and other operational reports.

● Manages the annual budget, along with forecasts and timely reporting of any significant budget differences with leadership.

● Monitors cash flow and overall cash management.

● Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls and ensures compliance over accounting transactions to minimize risk.

● Reviews contract documentation and works with Corporate Attorney to manage and minimize risk.

● Works closely with external partners for tax planning, filing, audits, insurance, and other key business needs.

● Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government regulations and requirements.

● Prepares project proformas to assist management in purchase decisions.

● Partners and collaborates effectively with construction teams where needed to ensure the overall financial success of all construction projects.

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent.

● 5-8 years of accounting experience with 3 years in management.

● Active CPA license, public accounting experience preferred.

● Prior work experience in Construction, Residential Homebuilding preferred.

● Extensive knowledge of general financial and cost accounting principles.

● Effective communication skills, written, verbal, and presentation with all job levels.

● Self-initiating and looks for ways to improve and implement new ideas and initiatives.

● Strategic thinker with a proven track records for ethical decision making.

● Creates positive relationships through active listening and building trust.

● Ability to plan, organize, manage, and supervise activities for successful outcomes.

● Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.

● Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Quickbooks or equivalent programs.

Physical Requirements/Work Requirements & Environment

● Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

● Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

● Standard day shift

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
