Summary

Provides supervision, leadership and training to the clean-up crew. Has a working knowledge of how the plant operates and possesses good communication skills. Operates any of the company's equipment and tools, in conjunction with sanitation responsibilities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Promotes and adheres to company safety work rules and regulations.
• Observes general state of the plant each day to determine which tasks need to be accomplished during the shift.
• Assigns sanitation crew the tasks that must be completed each shift.
• Oversees the cleaning operation.
• Consults with Production Supervisor and/or Shift Manager to determine down times for production lines and if there will be any mechanical operations taking place during the cleaning process.
• Completes shift reports and other paperwork as required.
• Tests new cleaning and sanitizing products and technology.
• Ensures all cleaning and sanitation related equipment works properly.
• Identifies potential safety hazards in the plant.
• Verifies that the clean-up crew completes all assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner.
• Trains employees in proper cleaning and sanitation techniques and procedures.
• Evaluates and tests the performance of Sanitation Worker trainees after 30, 60, and 90 days.
• Calls in starch to stockroom as required.
• Assists in water drops and cut changes as needed.
• Performs basic upkeep and maintenance of hysters as needed.
• Attends and participates in all annual, departmental, and job specific required training and monthly informational meetings.
• Communicates any problems or changes in production or quality to supervisor and appropriate personnel.
• Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to ensure a quality operation.
• Keeps area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
• Helps to build and promote a strong “Teamwork” environment in each individual work group, the Factory, and the Company.
• Participates in continuous improvement process.
• Must adhere to the McCain Code of Conduct.
• The employee may be required to successfully complete the orientation and training provided during the first ninety- (90) days of employment.
  
  

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY

• Responsibility to monitor work areas, watch for suspicious behavior and report any concerns regarding unidentified visitors and/or unauthorized personnel.
• Authority to question and take appropriate measures regarding the safety of themselves, other employees, products, and equipment.
• Responsibility of maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the food processing facility, especially where any raw or finished product is produced.
• Authority to report and/or eliminate hazards to the safety of the food that is produced in the facility

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
