Job Summary

The main purpose of this job is to ensure the sanitation of the facility by controlling and preparing the usage of chemicals needed for plant sanitation before, during, and after sanitation.

Job Functions

Essential Functions :

• Maintain chemical inventories and ensure orders are input correctly for timely usage.
• Maintenance of sanitation equipment and daily upkeep. Ensure equipment is fully functional.
• Safely handle all chemicals using proper tools and equipment.
• Update SOPs and all safe handling procedures when necessary.
• Assist other employees with the sanitation / cleaning process to help all to be safe and successful including administering hands on training when necessary.
• Adhere to all company and plant policies, work rules and procedures. (Safety, GMP, SOPs, LOTO Etc.)
• Identify and correct insanitary practices and conditions.
• Completes non conformances for cleaning and coach when needed on proper techniques to ensure food safety.
• Responsible for the sanitation of idle equipment once removed from the line.

The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme cold and heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and toxic or caustic chemicals.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and / or ability required.

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional training in relation to chemical handling and safety.

• Ability to read and write in Basic English.
• Ability interpret and understand document such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

• Frequent reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing.
• The employee is continuously required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to climb a ladder at least 18 feet off the ground and be able to descend through a manhole at least 15 feet below ground.
• Must be able to work 12 hour shifts.
• PROTECTIVE CLOTHING REQUIRED.

Smock, Gloves, Hairnet, Sleeves, Waterproof Suit, Ear Plugs, Protective Toe Shoes, Goggles (when needed)
