McCar Materials is seeking an experienced Excavator/Loader Operator for our quarry in Georgetown, Texas. The ideal candidate will have heavy equipment experience. Operators must be able to operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner while possessing strong work ethic and good communication skills.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment of various sizes.
- Perform daily inspections on equipment and report any defects or necessary repairs.
- Signaling truck drivers to position truck to facilitate the loading of dirt, rocks, and other materials.
- Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as other equipment and falling objects.
- Properly follow all company and MSHA safety procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of heavy-equipment operating principles.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
- Ability to complete job tasks safely and effectively
- Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations
- Ability to operate equipment under varying working conditions
- Bilingual preferred
Education and Experience:
- Two (2) or more years of experience operating heavy equipment
- Experience in demonstrating safe work practices
- Experience with sand and gravel plant operations preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), working at heights, in confined spaces, and in all types of weather conditions.
