We are looking to hire a QA Manager II at our Spice Mill Manufacturing Plant in Hunt Valley, MD.

Under the general supervision of the Quality Operations Director, the Quality Manager provides leadership at the plant for the development, implementation, and administration of the Quality function to ensure product safety, integrity, and conformance with respect to customer, Divisional, Corporate and regulatory requirements. This Quality Manager is a member of the Plant Leadership Team and Regional Quality Leadership Team, responsible for formulating and executing a strategic quality plan for the business, managing vendor quality programs that impact the facility, and handling customer complaints through root cause analysis. The Quality Department Manager leads the development, implementation and maintenance of food safety programs such as HACCP, GMPs, Pest Control, Recall, Food Allergen and Environmental Monitoring. As a member of the Plant Leadership Team, this Manager has a comprehensive understanding of the concepts and principles within Quality and knowledge of these elements in other relevant functional areas so s/he can participate in the resolution of issues that have an impact beyond Quality and/or impact multiple areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains customer quality satisfaction through the implementation and use of programs to control raw materials, in-process materials, production process, environmental conditions & finished products
Conducts or coordinates customer/vendor visits and third-party audits.
Executes plans for continuous improvement for operations.
Prepares and oversees customer site visits and audits.
Utilizes the McCormick High Performance System (MHPS) to empower and develop teams using established MHPS systems, core beliefs, guiding principles and attributes.
Performs evaluations and creates development/training plans for individuals within the team and manages employee relations.
Actively uses Individual Development Plans (IDPs) to document and facilitate improvement / recognition discussions.
Manages compensation process for team and recommends wage increases for high performers (pay for performance).
Interacts with other division Quality Managers, Directors, and Corporate Quality leadership.
Leads QA Team to develop specifications, Bills of Materials, recipes and inspection plans for raw materials and finished goods.
Manages department staffing, expense budget, and capital projects.
Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations issued by OSHA, EPA, FDA, and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or another relevant technical field
Minimum 7 years of Quality leadership experience in a manufacturing plant(s)
Minimum 5 years’ experience in the food, beverage, flavor and/or ingredient manufacturing industry
Extensive knowledge of HACCP, Auditing, SSOP’s, GMP’s, FDA, OSHA, Quality Systems, and Plant Sanitation
Experience managing a team(s) of Quality employees
Demonstrated significant and relevant skills and consistent results as a leader in Quality
Strong cross-functional strategic leadership experience, communication and teamwork skills with demonstrated success in managing people and multiple projects
Detailed understanding of how all areas of a manufacturing plant and warehouse interact to contribute to the business and to meet customers’ expectations
Strong communication and diplomacy skills to guide and influence others
Basic commercial awareness as it relates to competition and the latest developments in the industry
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours to support the needs of a three-shift plant operation
Ability and willingness to relocate in the future for career opportunities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or another relevant technical field
Quality Auditor Certification (CQA)
HACCP Auditor Certification (CHA)
Food Manufacturing Equipment Sanitation knowledge including CIP systems
