What are the responsibilities and job description for the NDT Technician Supervisor position at McDermott/CB&I?
The NDT Supervisor has developed advanced and specialized expertise within an analytical/scientific area to perform the most complex Inspection-specific work and is knowledgeable of other disciplines. They can identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational problems that impact effectiveness.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
The NDT Supervisor impacts the level of service and the team’s ability to meet quality and timeliness objectives. They supervise technical employees and are accountable for the team’s results within the Inspection discipline. The NDT Supervisor adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Their decisions are guided by policies, procedures, business plans, and management guidance
- Impact practical training to NDT Techs and guide them about the overall NDT work process
- Check and ensure proper maintenance of NDT equipment and Calibration records by the NDT technician
- Review the vendor’s NDT procedure
- Prepare internal level-II procedure
- Supervise NDT Operations for the proper and timely execution of NDT concerning quality and quantity
- Ensure NDT procedures are compliant with code and customer requirement
- Determine the adequacy of workforce requirements in relation to the Histogram
- Coordinate with QA/QC and Production Personnel regarding the schedule of NDT activity
- Interpret radiographs as per code and customer specification
- Ensure safe handling of all radioactive sources being imported and exported
- Ensure safe usage of radioactive equipment and personnel within the yard
- Archive Radiographs for all the projects offshore and offshore
- Conduct periodic reviews of NDT Consumables for cost reduction
- Ensure proper project approval of the NDT Tech
- Cross-check job performed by Operator/Technician
- Perform duties ethically and safely per professional occupation guidelines
Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 12 years of experience in Radiography or Ultrasonic
- Proficient in the use of computer and Microsoft programs
- ASNT, PCN, or CSWIP Level II qualification
- Level II/Level III Qualification to internationally recognized schemes to determine competency (i.e., PCN, CSWIP, ASNT, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with the most current digital equipment
