The Project and Fixed Asset Accounting Team within Global Business Services processes real estate transactions for over 15,000 Restaurants in the U.S. and Canada. The team helps account for and handle over $10 billion in fixed assets and is responsible for the majority of accounting functions related to construction projects and real estate activities. Key customers include U.S. and Canada Restaurant Development and Finance teams.
Overall Objectives
The GBS Finance Project Accountant position is responsible for supporting and supervising construction and fixed asset activity. This includes reviewing construction projects and validating that transactions are accounted for accurately on the general ledger and the fixed asset subledger. The role also involves reviewing real estate transactions for condemnations and asset retirements, as well as coordinating month-end close duties and reviewing of monthly Income Statement and Balance Sheet accounts, while providing customer service to internal partners.
- Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of project accounting concepts.
- Assists and supports in providing Balance Sheet and Income Statement financial information.
- Performs monthly account reconciliations and fixed asset exception reporting.
- Collaborates with internal and external customers providing superior customer service.
- Ensures all retained documentation is SOX compliant.
- Supports all accounting functions related to project accounting and fixed assets.
- Participates in audit activities by providing documents requested.
- Research and provide answers to customer inquiries.
- Ensuring accounting functions are completed by designated completion dates.
Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Oracle is preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with staff across different levels
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
- Willing to travel 0-10%
