Position: Engineering Technician
As an Engineering Lab Technician at McGard, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our engineering and product development processes. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of laboratory activities, assisting engineers in research, testing, and experimentation while maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct a variety of technical tests, experiments, and procedures in our engineering laboratory to aid in the development of new product designs and improve existing product designs.
- Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment and instrumentation critical to our product development and quality assurance processes. Ensure the accuracy and reliability of measurements.
- Accurately collect, record, and analyze data from experiments and tests. Create detailed reports for our engineering teams, highlighting key findings and insights to inform decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with McGard's engineers, providing hands-on support during design and testing, ensuring that project objectives are met.
- Adhere to McGard's safety protocols and guidelines, proactively identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards to maintain a secure laboratory environment.
- Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the lab space.
- Efficiently manage inventory of laboratory supplies, ensuring that the necessary materials are readily available to support ongoing engineering and testing activities.
- Travel may be required to support projects, manage customer issues, provide support for sales, gain product information, resolve customer issues, or attend trade shows.
Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Detail oriented with strong analytical skills to accurately collect data from experiments and create clear and concise reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English to convey findings and collaborate with team members and engineers.
- Ability to effectively multitask and manage multiple projects, tasks, or responsibilities concurrently.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot equipment issues and address unexpected challenges during testing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Two-year technical degree in a relevant field, such as engineering technology or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience working in a laboratory or technical environment, especially in an engineering, manufacturing, or automotive context.
- Knowledge of quality control processes and testing standards, including International Organization for Standardization (ISO), American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), or other relevant industry standards.
