Medical Scribe
McGregor PACE is a Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE site), an alternative to nursing home placement providing services that addresses the medical, rehabilitative, social and personal care needs enabling seniors to remain at home, in the community.
Our busy medical practice is currently seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Medical Scribe to effectively manage our growing program enrollment and to assist our healthcare team with documenting accurate and detailed information of patient visits.
Our ideal candidate will provide the highest quality customer service to patients, adhere to practice protocols and processes and effectively manage the volume of work without allowing quality to be compromised. Our ideal candidate will also work collaboratively with a team of medical providers associated with a specific PACE Center.
Medical Scribe responsibilities:
- Transcribe patient appointments
- Assist in data collection and chart review to identify pertinent bio-psychosocial information including past medical, surgical, social and family histories, prior immunizations and radiologic studies
- Facilitate diagnostic tests and referrals to medical specialists
- Assist the Physician or Nurse Practitioner with being present to chaperone a medical encounter
- Work collaboratively with the PACE medical staff assigned to a specific PACE Center. Work with the PACE Medical provider in the office, Assisted Living Facility, or Skilled Nursing / Long-Term Care setting
- Manage an average of at least two (2) patients per hour, and a minimum of four (4) patients per hour during peak times
- Maintain an organized and professional working environment
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant training program a plus!
- Proficiency in medical terminology
- Touch-typing speed: 90 - 100 wpm required
- Bilingual English/Spanish speaking an asset
- 2 yrs exp as a medical transcriptionist or secretary in an Internal Medicine office setting preferred, but equivalent medical setting acceptable.
- 1 yr experience working with frail older population
- Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail; self-directed professional with demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi-task effectively
- Ability to establish collaborative working relationships with internal and external customers
- Exhibits excellent bedside manner
- High School diploma or equivalency, required
