Job Summary:
The Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing all on-site construction activities, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards of the Project Management Team. The Superintendent will work with and report to Assistant Project Managers, Project Managers, and other Senior Leadership within the Project Management Department. The Superintendent acts as the key point of contact between the Construction Installation Crews, Project Managers, Subcontractors, and Clients, ensuring that all phases of the project installation process run smoothly and efficiently. The Superintendent will assist with maintaining document control, management of databases and coordination, and tracking of project activities and communications to ensure project goals are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe and budget parameters.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities and daily operations of subcontractors, suppliers, and installers on site.
- Maintain project schedules, ensuring that milestones and deadlines are met and ensure that the project is built in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Coordinate the arrival and placement of materials, ensuring they are delivered on time and stored properly.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure quality and adherence to company standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and walkthroughs, identifying any potential issues or discrepancies.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and site inspections to mitigate risks and address and resolve any issues that arise during the construction process on site.
- Enforce safety protocols and regulations on site, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant safety standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all on-site communications, including with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Provide regular updates to the Project Management Team on project status, including progress reports and any issues encountered.
- Facilitate and lead on-site meetings, ensuring all parties are informed and aligned on project goals.
- Prepare, submit, and maintain accurate daily logs (including work performed, materials used, and labor hours), progress reports, and other documentation as required.
- Identify and address any potential issues that could impact the project timeline or budget and work proactively to resolve conflicts or delays, coordinating with the necessary Project Management Team members to find solutions.
- Make real-time decisions on-site to keep the project moving forward.
- Work with the Project Management Team to forecast costs and identify areas where savings can be made.
- Track and submit expenditures related to labor, materials, and subcontractors.
- All other duties as assigned.
Skills and qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial construction industry, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role such as Superintendent or Foreman with a proven track record of successfully completing construction projects on time and within budget.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, PMP, or LEED) are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, methods, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physically demanding tasks.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to travel multiple times a month, as required for the job.
