SUMMARY
The Sales Manager is responsible for overall performance and profitability of the assigned branch by managing all sales activities and contributing to successful revenue generation. Responsible for performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for Branch P&L in coordination with Branch Manager.
- Develops and implements branch strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals.
- Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals for the branch.
- Reviews active and prospective customers to maintain and grow market share.
- Achieves growth and sales targets by successfully managing the sales team.
- Directs sales staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop Account Manager.
- Expands new customer portfolio, competitor accounts, lease trailer count and branch revenue, year over year.
- Directs pipeline development activities and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.
- Assist customers with needs assessments, market information and pricing.
- Assigns sales territory to Account Manager.
- Promotes products and services in trade associations events.
- Delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with Account Manager.
- Meets with key clients, assisting Account Manager with maintaining relationships, negotiating rates, and closing deals.
- Maintain company databases with current contact information, activities, and opportunities for any communication with all assigned accounts, including customers, prospects, and sales leads.
- Prepares periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
- Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.
- Responsible for managing delinquent accounts.
- Reviews fleet for underutilized or underperforming assets; relocate or sell fleet as needed and recommend fleet additions in conjunction with the Branch Manager
- Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for directing the activities of Account Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, GED, Associates or Bachelor’s degree. 3-5 years’ experience in a transportation related industry (with that experience being in sales preferred) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong work ethic and a desire to succeed.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Attention to detail and highly organized.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and database systems.
- Keyboard at 40 words per minute.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
