Summary of Position
A Senior Superintendent is primarily responsible for overseeing the general construction operations on multiple projects at once. Responsibilities include scheduling and activity sequencing, manpower forecasting and placement, managing subcontractors and specific trades, leading a project team, and collaborating with the Project Management team.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Directs and coordinates trade contractors and their sub-contractors, when required, to ensure they turn out high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule
- Supervises the construction of large and multiple projects
- Supervises and develops the project team
- Manages the project budget for general conditions and site services
- Develops, documents and communicates the work plan regarding changes made in the field
- Maintains a thorough understanding of contract documents to be able to coordinate trades, proactively plan and anticipate potential problems before they arise
- Obtains and verifies that the subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposes
- Monitors safety performance and verifies safety compliance with all trades
- Acts as primary safety representative in the field and enforce quality control policies
- Leads weekly contractor meetings, oversee daily reports and documents
- Communicates schedule status, updates and changes to Project Team and Trade Contractors
- Coordinates and manages jobsite logistics
- Oversees project quality plan and implements necessary changes when needed
- Establishes credibility among clients, trade contractors, unions etc. by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment
Essential Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: 10 plus years of experience on a $25-$75 million commercial/industrial construction project or multiple projects in a superintendent role or equivalent combination of education and experience
Other: Strong technical and communication skills, excellent organizational skills, excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs, must possess the ability to participate in sales process, interviews and presentations, ability to work in a team environment, proficient in Microsoft Office, construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction, experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control, strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan, ability to create an environment where “safety first” is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitude adhering to OSHA regulations, experience supervising a project team, knowledge of labor relations, 30-hour OSHA certification required
