SPA assists the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in developing leading edge technologies to counter WMD in support of CCMDs and transitioning these technologies to military services and COCOMs. SPA provides expertise across the full range of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives (CBRNE) WMD, Counter Improvised Threat and Countering Threat Network technologies to support understanding, detection, identification, characterization, denial, control, disabling, defeating, disposing, safeguarding the force, managing consequences, and test and evaluation in support of military and civilian operations.
SPA has a near term need for a Policy Analyst with great communication skills.
Provides complex analytical studies and activities, and interprets strategy and policy for an agency and distills points of impact and relevance to the agency mission. Interprets higher level policy and strategy to points of execution of intelligence, programs, and plans that the agency manifests. Conducts analytical qualitative, and quantitative research topics, provides analysis, and delivers written and oral presentations on findings/insights. Makes recommendations on relevant, credible, and timely actions that can be taken in light of the findings. Coordinates with analytic agencies and entities to assure integration of cross command products. Provides analytic and operational expertise to all identified supported offices and personnel. Provide written inputs to study plans, analysis reports, and final reports. Assists in reviewing and selecting externally conducted research on specific relevant topics in furtherance of agency, CCMD, and related missions.
Travel up to 25%.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 - 10 years of Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction policy and strategy analysis
- Knowledge of DOD, and experience conducting analysis for strategic impact
- An active Top Secret security clearance with SCI Eligibility is required with the ability to maintain throughout time of employment
Desired Qualifications:
- TS/SCI
- MS or PhD
- More than 10 years of strategic analysis and planning in the DOD
- Conducted research for a strategy branch or division of a CCMD or office of secretary of defense
- Experience working at a think tank or FFRDC
