What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake and Document Specialist position at Med Emporium?

A durable medical equipment company in the Charlotte area has a position open for a quality focused and organized person to join their office team. This position is in office.

The responsibilities would include preparing and/or obtaining appropriate documents associated with each customer order including but not limited to:

  • Receiving and processing prescription orders from referrals for medical equipment.
  • Take incoming calls from patients, insurance companies, and referral sources.
  • Communicate with patients, families, insurance, doctor’s offices, referral sources, etc. regarding coordination of services.
  • All follow up regarding paperwork to physician practices, specialty clinics, respiratory therapists, and other referral sources.
  • Prescriptions, CMN, Letter of Medical Justification, etc.
  • Stay current with changes in billing / documentation requirements.
  • Track paperwork requiring signature.
  • Obtain on-going clinical notes for patients and obtain reauthorizations as needed.
  • Reviewing clinical records in addition to delivery documentation to ensure eligibility to bill insurance.
  • Perform Intake and verify insurance eligibility for service.
  • Utilize and understand the computer billing system and provider portals as applicable.
  • Data entry for patients and equipment.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Skills: Basic computer knowledge, data entry, strong organizational skills, exceptional phone and problem-solving skills.

Education: College degree preferred or Graduate of an accredited high school

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.20 per hour

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Medical terminology: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Computer skills: 1 year (Preferred)
