MEDARVA Stony Point and West Creek Surgery Centers is currently hiring for a full time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join our team.  In this role the CRNA will be responsible and accountable for providing safe, effective and efficient anesthesia care of the highest possible quality in accordance with the current professional standards and protocols of practice. This requires assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of patients through clinical knowledge and skills. The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is responsible for administering all anesthetic agents based on scientifically sound procedures for all surgical patients. The Nurse Anesthetist promotes teamwork with physicians and personnel in other departments.  

Requirements

Within the scope of CRNA’s qualifications and consistent with accepted standards of medical practice, CRNA shall, upon request by MEDARVA, perform any or all of the following functions:

  • Perform patient care including examinations, tests, reports, procedures and other functions as directed by the physician consistent with normally accepted standards of care.
  • Appropriately document findings, procedures, etc. in the medical record in a timely manner.
  • Perform accepted procedures, commonly-used therapies, appropriate support services and such other clinical and professional services as from time to time may be required by MEDARVA.
  • Perform and document a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient under physician direction, and administer pre-anesthetic medications and fluids.
  • Administer the anesthetic plan which may include: general, regional, and/or sedation.
  • Apply appropriate non-invasive monitoring modalities for continuous evaluation of the patient’s physical status, consistent with ASA standards.
  • Administer the anesthetic, adjuvant and accessory drugs, and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic.
  • Manage a patient’s airway, cardiac and pulmonary status using current practice modalities.
  • Provide post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care as needed.
  • Implement appropriate acute pain management modalities.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide appropriate care.
  • Assist pre-op and post-op staff with the care and preparation of patients for surgery, to include performing a nursing assessment, starting IV’s, providing pre and post-op care instructions.
