Social Media Specialist

This position is approved for 99% remote work! The Social Media Specialist will be required to travel to the customer's site (NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, AL), approximately 2-4 times per year.

• Assume leadership of building and executing social media strategy through research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification
• Generate, edit, publish, and share daily content (e.g., original text, images, video)
• Provide leadership of setting up and optimizing social media sites within each platform to increase the visibility of MSFC/NASA(s) flagship social media accounts
• Moderate user-generated content in line with the moderation policy for each community
• Work with Subject Matter Experts at Marshall and digital teams across NASA to coordinate and cross-promote agency-wide digital campaigns
• Organize and support live social events
• Recommend improvements by analyzing appropriate social media data/metrics, insights, and best practices on a continuous basis
• Manage social media team, social media campaigns, and develop social media strategy
• Promote social media within the organization

• Bachelor's degree in media, journalism, communications, or other appropriate area of specialization
• Must have 5 years of directly related experience
• Experience scheduling and monitoring social media using such tools as Sprinklr, Hootsuite, etc. including metric tools such as Cision, Google Analytics, etc.
• Able to demonstrate proficiency in:
  • Advanced oral and written communications
  • Advanced writing and editing for a variety of online platforms
  • Advanced problem solving
  • Advanced understanding of social media platforms, strategies, metrics and experience posting to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described herein are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in a standard office or conference room setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer. To visit other company sites, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle and fly in an aircraft, both of which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time. Employees must possess vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas will be required. This position requires an employee to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance; reach, push, and pull drawers and doors open and closed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
