What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Manager position at Medicago?

Your role:
Will be to oversee the operation, maintenance, and repairs of site utility and decontamination systems including boilers, thermal waste inactivation systems, USP water (RO), clean steam, fertigation, & pH neutralization. The incumbent works closely with the Director of Facilities, the Maintenance Manager, Utility & Decontamination Operations Team, and the EHS Team to ensure that the site utilities and decontamination systems operate in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.
What your days would look like:
- Oversee day-to-day activities of the Utilityand DeCon Operations group to include assignment of tasks, scheduling, and coordination across the various site functional areas including utilities / DeCon, production operations, EHS, and general / site maintenance;
- Supervise preventive maintenance and non-scheduled maintenance activities for utility equipment including boilers, fertigation system, thermal waste inactivation systems, ozoneation, clean steam generators, USP (RO) water gneration and distribution, etc;
- Follow SOPs, PMs, and applicable safety procedures while performing preventive maintenance and non-scheduled maintenance. Ensure that members of the Utilities team and service groups adhere to required procedures and tasks;
- Use excellent troubleshooting skills - formulate and recommend appropriate action and institute repairs and modifications to equipment in a manner that does not jeopardize the integrity of the equipment, validation, or compliance;
- Verify all DeCon equipment and utility systems are operating efficiently, reliably, and safely. Assure competent troubleshooting and repairs of systems/equipment are completed to minimize downtime;
- Monitor the BMS system to verify that critical areas are being maintained within biocontainment specifications.
- Mentor and develop the Utilities Team and new hires regarding teamwork, troubleshooting techniques, and applicable procedures to ensure cGMP and EHS compliance;
- Work with the Storeroom to evaluate and oversee spare parts procurement needed to maintain utilty and DeCon systems. Ensure that all systems have recommended spare parts identified, and if possible, located at the - Medicago site;
- Maintain the Utility / DeCon operational spaces in a safe and compliant manner adhering to all EPA, OSHA, and applicable building codes;
- Provide support and interact with leadership including managers and supervisors from all departments.
Required profile:
- Technical or Vocational Degree/AAS
- 8 years’ experience in pharmaceutical/biotech engineering operations, with working knowledge of cGMP Utilites and FDA regulatory guidelines of same.
- 3 years of demonstrated leadership of staff or projects in technical or engineering field required.
- Biopharmaceutical experience in Mechanical, Maintenance or Construction.
- Experience with CMMS systems and inventory systems required.
- Demonstrated experience with problem solving and troubleshooting systems in a pharmaceutical environment required.
A must would be:
- PE, ISPE T65 (Critical Utility GMP Compliance)
- Current Boiler, Refrigerant and/or Electrical License
