Work Experience Two years’ experience in Public Speaking. College course work related to this area may be considered as a part of this requirement; Basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS, STIs and Hepatitis C preferred
Job Duties
- Identify at-risk populations for a variety of healthcare issues maintaining contact through periodic education programs and coordination of risk reduction programming with other agencies/organizations
- Demonstrate attention to detail when completing activity sheets and required reports
- Submit required program documentation in accordance with policy and procedures
- Network with other organizations and agencies that also work with the target population in order to provide information and make referrals
- Provide Pre and Post Test Education and Counseling and/or risk reduction counseling
- Administer HIV tests and other tests as required
- Educate clients/patients and the communities at large in the area of safer sex, HIV/AIDS and general communicable disease prevention, needle safety, healthy living and other issues
- Plan and implement education outreach programs and events
- Serve as the lead educator in assigned location and/or region
- Mentor and train entry level educators as needed
- Assist and plan fundraisers for department
- Perform any other department or agency related duties or special projects
- Ability to adapt to schedule changes and maintain flexibility
- Strong ability to interact with diverse groups and cultures
- Ensures individual participant case planning encompasses key partners, support and services
- Maintains relationships within network of local service providers
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Education, Social Work or other people related field or at least five years related experience
- Two years’ experience in Public Speaking. College course work related to this area may be considered as a part of this requirement
- Basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS, STIs and Hepatitis C preferred
- Must have valid Driver’s License and Automobile Insurance.
- Available and willing to work weekends and evenings, when necessary
- Available and willing to travel to program/event locations, when necessary
- As a medical care-focused agency, annual tuberculin skin test for Tuberculosis will be required, but can be completed at no cost to staff at any MAO Clinic site when available
- Vaccinations for COVID-19, influenza, and other recognized public health hazards will be required to protect self, co-workers and MAO clients
Physical/Mental Abilities This position requires an individual who is mentally alert and able to effectively communicate verbally. Frequent sitting, some standing/walking, occasional lifting of supplies/equipment up to 50 lbs. Occasional reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching are also required.
