Job Summary And Qualifications

Provide visitations and spiritual support to patients, family members, and employees. Collaborate and coordinate patient visits for area clergy. Provide crisis intervention where appropriate. When on-call, make every effort to respond to calls within 10 minutes and arrive within 30 minutes of being called. Respond to interdisciplinary team referrals and work as an effective interdisciplinary team member. Follow patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures. Promote consistent, positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service. Demonstrate caring and empathy in all interactions and advocates for patient- and family-centered approach in all decisions and actions. Demonstrate excellent communication skills, including active listening. Ensures patients, physicians, and colleagues have a clear understanding of all communications. Engage in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient's experience, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc. Participate as an active member of the health care team and positively promote the rest of the team to patients/families/caregivers and other colleagues. Maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate behaviors consistent with established policies/procedures. Seek opportunities to impact the growth of the organization by promoting excellence in patient experience and providing high quality care to the patients served. Fulfill the duty and responsibility to maintain competence and to continue personal and professional growth. Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by taking ownership of time management, decreasing waste of time and/or supplies, and promoting cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care. Perform other duties as assigned. Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”

What qualifications you will need:

  • 2 years of experience in Pastoral care work, preferred
  • Endorsement or commission by a faith group or a connection to a recognized religious community
  • Experience with death and dying, the grieving process
  • Bachelor's Degree (Theology or religious education degree)
  • Member on American Association of Pastoral Counselors or Association of Clinical Pastoral Education preferred
