Job Summary And Qualifications
Our Operating Room Registered Nurses raise the bar by providing clinical expertise and the highest quality care in the most compassionate way. As an OR Nurse, you will have the opportunity to deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
You will provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice and in accordance with established policies.
You will organize, modify, evaluate, document and maintain the plan of care for surgical services patients.
You will assist in and assess Operating Room readiness: table positioning, supplies and supply availability, and equipment readiness
You will monitor treatment in the operative environment including practice of aseptic technique and maintenance of sterile fields and correction of breaks in technique for any of the team members
You will manage patient safety by implementing operative policy and procedures including patient identification, site verification, positioning and counting of sponges, instruments and sharps

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.
- Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.
- Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period.
- During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).
- Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.
- Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy.
- Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND, D2/ECD, and D3/EVD)
- Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.
- Current FT/PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2023-2024 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year.
- Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program.
- Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.

What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support
- RN with current licensure or RN with temporary permit to practice from the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas.
- Previous experience in OR setting required.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing with Associates of Science in Nursing
