Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Compliance & Privacy, the Compliance Specialist will assist with implementing and monitoring the Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) Corporate Compliance Program, with a specific focus on outside activities/conflict of commitment and the MFA’s Privacy program in accordance with MFA’s policies and federal and state requirements and guidance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
- Supports MFA’s Corporate Compliance Program as a key member of the Department of Compliance.
- Assists in the management of the MFA’s Outside Activities program and coordinate with the Department of Compliance, MFA leadership and academic partners to ensure compliance.
- Facilitate the collection of information regarding outside activities and potential conflicts of commitment.
- Works with MFA’s leadership in the review and management plans regarding outside activities and conflicts of commitment in order to provide feedback to individuals during the disclosure process.
- Collect and track all information needed within SAI360 regarding the Outside Activities Program (housed on SAI Global’s SAI360 software platform)
- Coordinating breach analysis and notifications to patients and regulatory agencies, as indicated
- Assists with conducting audits and investigations into HIPAA and Corporate Compliance areas, including creating and maintaining logs, files and correspondence.
- Monitors communication avenues as assigned and needed (Compliance Hotline, written correspondence, emails, phone calls and voicemails). Responds as appropriate, conferring with Director of Compliance as needed. Keeps logs, maintains systems, and prepares reports as needed.
- Assists Director of Compliance with other compliance issues impacting MFA.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience in the healthcare field.
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare and/or compliance setting.
- Strong working knowledge of healthcare operations and applicable federal and state privacy laws.
