POSITION TITLE: QA Team Lead

Supervised by: Director, Software Development

Supervises: IT QA Analysts, Software Development Engineers in Test

FLSA Status: Full time, Exempt

Location: HQ in Brecksville, OH; this position can be remote / home based

POSITION SUMMARY.

The QA Team Lead manages processes and personnel to conduct automated and manual quality assurance testing in MediQuant's Agile Development Team. In this role, The QA Team Lead develops effective and efficient methods, maintains documentation throughout the QA process, validates and measures the quality of MediQuant's Software Products.

The QA Team Lead conducts rigorous testing throughout the development process, identifies potential issues, and resolves them collaboratively. The QA Team Lead is also responsible for developing and implementing fixes and improvements, working with their team and others to deploy updates and resolve issues that arise during the QA process.

The QA Team Lead works to ensure whole-team ownership of the appropriate unit, integration, and UI test coverage. They are data-driven and experienced in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.

  • Leads and develops a team of QA professionals to operate efficiently and effectively. (*)
    • Collaborate with the Director of Software Development to establish and evolve formal QA processes, ensuring that the team uses industry-accepted best practices.
    • Manage the day-to-day activities of QA team members.
    • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products.
    • Oversee all aspects of quality assurance, including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to meet quality goals.
    • Assess current testing needs and schedules to determine staffing needs.
  • Act as the key point of contact for all aspects of QA, providing QA services and coordinating QA resources internally and externally. (*)
    • Review user stories, requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
    • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test cases with test coverage metrics.
    • Track quality assurance metrics and reporting, like defect densities, escaped defects, and open defect counts.
    • Design, develop and execute test automation code.
    • Act as the primary code reviewer for other testers.
    • Triage defects by evaluating impact and severity and provides recommendations for release timing.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to create high-quality, innovative software products and tools (*).
    • Liaise with internal teams (e.g., developers and product managers) to identify system requirements.
    • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities.
    • Perform thorough iterative and regression release testing.
    • Identify, record, document thoroughly, track and re-test defects.
    • Create and maintain test environments for software testing.
  • Assists with Recruiting, Performance Management, and Staff Development. (*)
    • Collaborates with Human Resources and direct supervisor during the interview and hiring processes.
    • Consistently aligns recruiting activities with established Human Resources processes.
    • Actively works to fill open positions in a timely and reasonable manner.
    • Lead and mentor QA team members and stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies.
    • New Hire Onboarding – Prepares new hire 30-60-90-day training plan and integrates feedback into daily, weekly, and monthly one-on-one meetings.
    • Prepares initial feedback for team performance reviews.
    • Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with individual team members to review their work status,clarify role expectations, provide feedback, identify training needs, discuss growth plans, and match their skill sets with new and challenging projects.
    • Coaching and Mentoring – Creates a learning environment and encourages staff to participate in skill development. Supports staff efforts to engage in self-directed training, whether company-provided, college coursework, professional activities or professional certifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies.

  • Developing and maintaining custom testing frameworks
  • Azure DevOps and Git Experience
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases
  • Hands-on experience with Unit, Integration, and Automated UI test creation, evaluation, and maintenance
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process

Required Education and Experience.

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
  • Proven work experience of 7 Years in software quality assurance
  • Must have Selenium C# hands on Experience of 5 Years
  • Experience with continuous integration, continuous deployments, and release pipelines

Additional Eligibility Qualifications.

  • Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus
  • Experience in full System Development Life Cycle
  • Experience with agile development a plus
  • Prefer knowledge of HIPAA regulations involving PHI and HITEC
  • Prefer previous experience in Hospital & Healthcare

POSITION SUPERVISES. IT QA Analysts, Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET)

Work Environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing some duties of this job, the employee is exposed to dust or other airborne particles. The noise level on the job site is typical of an office environment.

Physical Demands. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods of time, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work. This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
