Job Statement
The Specialist of Coding Compliance is responsible for the quality performance and quality oversight of MediRevv Coders. This role will review code assignments for accuracy and adherence to guidelines, laws, and regulations. The Specialist of Coding Compliance will also identify training opportunities through performing routine audits.
Job Duties
An effective Coding Compliance Specialist will exemplify the MediRevv Mindset by helping the
organization on a whole achieve balance between partners, people, and performance.
- Participate in the development of training documentation.
- Support the preparation of client training manuals for new implementations.
- Perform coding quality assurance audits for all MediRevv coders.
- Deliver audit results and provide educational feedback to individual coders.
- Communicate quality issues to Manager, Coding Compliance and Manager, Coding Services.
- Prepare and distribute quality assurance performance statistics.
- Provide education and coding support to MediRevv coding team members.
- Participate in development and delivery of educational coding sessions.
- Assist with and perform other coding audits as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements – Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A successful candidate must have proficient knowledge/capabilities in the following areas:
- Must possess an AHIMA or AAPC credential: CPMA, CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA and/or RHIT.
- Minimum of five (5) years of coding experience, multi-specialty outpatient physician coding is preferred.
- Experience performing outpatient and/or inpatient audits strongly preferred
- Proficiency with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, NCCI edits, medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, and pharmacology.
- Proficiency with MS-DRG, ICD-10-PCS required for inpatient audit responsibility
- Advanced knowledge of coding and auditing concepts and principles.
- Proficiency in various EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) is desired.
- Ability to remain impartial and objective in preparing and presenting audit findings.
- Demonstrates effective analytical, strategic thinking and reporting capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- .Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
