  • Job Summary

    The Senior Learning Consultant uses learning and development expertise to design and create a variety of learning solutions to support strategic business initiatives and provide effective learning solutions that enhance MedStar’s associate learning experience. Responsible for the design, development and implementation of learning programs and courses, up to and including the delivery of content and vendor management. Additionally, serves as the project lead responsible for oversight of one or more learning programs by acting as the program(s) spokesperson, internal content expert, and/or project manager to ensure that all program objectives are being met and that the program’s vision is being actualized. 

     

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education/Training:

    Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, Adult Learning, Education, Media Sciences, Human Resources or related field. Advanced Training Certificate or Master’s degree preferred.

     

    Experience:

    10 years of experience working in corporate setting developing, designing and evaluating professional development programs in the areas of new hire orientation, technical skills, management and leadership, personal effectiveness, etc. Experience developing learning programs using ADDIE, SAM, AGILE or other instructional design processes Experience developing digital content delivered in a learning management system. 

    License/Cert/Reg:

    CPT, CPLP or related certification preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

     

    Familiarity with relevant coursework with designing, developing, and implementing instructor led (virtual and in person), as well as development of online modules and other elearning solutions, and use of tools, such as Storyline, RISE, Snagit, SurveyMonkey, etc. preferred.  Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory and application. Ability to use and learn new multimedia technology and authoring tools. Exceptional skills in public speaking and in-person and remote facilitation. Vendor management. Demonstrated capability in consulting, project management, and program implementation. Strong analytical/problem solving skills. Robust interpersonal skills in both client interactions and team interactions. Must be skilled influencer, relationship builder and natural collaborator. A strategic thinker who can keep the big picture in mind while delivering on the details. 

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
    2. Consult: Conducts learning and gap analysis, collecting data from key stakeholders, to determine and understand business needs, objectives and/or desired outcomes. Partners with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure that learning solutions enable end user to successfully learn new concepts, processes, products, systems, changes, etc. 
    3. Consult: Determines and documents the appropriate instructional strategy and project scope. Identifies and tracks metrics to verify effectiveness and support continuation of training programs, including creating survey and evaluating data. Fosters and influences key stakeholder relationships with HR and business leaders company-wide. 
    4. Design: Determines appropriate learning solutions for a variety of learning styles with varying skill levels. Designs effective and innovative instructional materials, interactions, simulations and assessments to support the required instructional strategy. Engages instructional design process and best practices to ensure the quality and consistency of educational materials. 
    5. Develop: Partners internally with strategic partners or externally with vendors as needed to develop and enhance learning content. Fosters continuous improvement and innovation in learning programs, including the review and refresh of curriculum materials, periodically across programs and delivery methods. 
    6. Develop: Tests effectiveness of learning content and materials and revises as needed. Writes, executes, and analyzes usability studies and test plans related to course materials, e-learning strategies and learning management systems/portals. 
    7. Facilitate: Delivers world class training, leveraging various mediums including instructor led training (ILT), web-based/virtual training, blended, 1:1 customized and/or job aids. Prepares the learning environment, physical or virtual, for training. Facilitates formal and informal learning related to HR initiatives. Understands when and how to acquire additional resources and/or subject matter experts when needed. 
    8. Learning Program Oversight: Manages one or more corporate learning programs. Oversees the initial program design and development as well as ongoing content maintenance. Collects and reviews ongoing participant feedback to determine content impact; recommends adjustments and updates when applicable. Serves as primary liaison and communicator to internal client, internal partners/stakeholders, and if applicable, external vendors. 
    9. Participates as an active team member and contributor on work that supports the Talent and Organizational Development teams, as well as Human Resources overall. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate. 
    10. Performs other duties as assigned.
