The Facilities HVAC Technician I will perform duties for Medxcel throughout the assigned working location of Via Christi mercy Regional - Manhattan, KS. The Facilities HVAC Technician I installs, operates and maintains the organization’s heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The Facilities HVAC Technician I is responsible for identifying repair and/or replacement needs, then completing installations and repairs. This position also conducts preventative maintenance and upgrades for HVAC systems and equipment. The Facilities HVAC Technician I assists associates within and outside of their trade.

Responsibilities
Maintaining HVAC systems:
- Installs, inspects, maintains, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on all heating, air conditioning, ice making, refrigeration, and ventilation systems
- Maintains and applies current knowledge of steam distribution, piping, valves, chilled and hot water reheat systems and Pressure Reducing Value (PRV) operation
- Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance
- Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
- Maintains knowledge of departmental equipment procedures for power outages
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
- Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations
- Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition
- May coordinate, maintain, and repair all energy management systems
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- 5 years experience in the field OR applicable certification required in lieu of high school diploma
- Some High School or Equivalent preferred
License/Certification:
- Universal EPA Refrigerant Certification
- Valid Driver’s License required
Experience:
- At least three years of HVAC experience preferred
