What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Architect (PC 1919) position at Members 1st Federal Credit Union?
The Data Architect has an advanced understanding of the methodologies and techniques relevant to designing, creating, deploying, and managing Members 1st's data architecture. The result will enable Members 1st to meet or exceed various business strategies. This resource will work primarily on agile teams with data analysts, data engineers, business intelligence engineers, data scientists, and developers.
The core responsibilities for the Data Architect include Database and Data Lake architecture/design, business partnership/communication, architectural patterns and practices, defining data standards and policies and finally providing consulting expertise and technical mentoring in areas of responsibility. The role will work with many areas including Data and Business Intelligence Engineers and will act as the subject matter expert for the data flow ingestion process into Members 1st’s data warehouse/lakehouse. The role will architect database and/or data lake schemas to ensure data is stored in an efficient manner that aligns with the business objectives and allows rapid, actionable insights. The role will ensure any design/development adheres to Information Security and Data Governance standards/policies and help ensure the data integrity of data at all stages. Finally the role will provide consulting expertise and technical mentoring in areas of responsibility across multiple verticals
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Information
Systems or other related discipline
EXPERIENCE:
- 7 years' experience with Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Data
Analytics, or similar relevant field 3 years' Data modeling/design/architecture

SKILLS:
- Expert-level Data Architecture/design core skills
- Deep understanding and demonstrated experience with Enterprise Data Governance initiatives
- Database and Data Lake access controls (such as RBAC, SQL Schema boundaries, etc.)
- Expert-level Data Engineering core skills including knowledge of the following technologies: Modern data warehouse concepts and practices, SQL Server database administration in on-prem and Azure environments, including, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Azure Data Factory, or similar
- Experience with Development tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Databricks, Version control systems, preferably Azure DevOps and Git, and Agile development processes, such as Scrum or Kanban
PREFERENCES:
- 2 years working with an Enterprise-wide Data Governance initiative
- 2 years Financial Institution experience
- Azure Data Engineer or similar certification
- Databricks (Associate or Professional)

Salary : $104,000 - $131,000
