What are the responsibilities and job description for the Claim Compliance Internship position at MEMIC?

MEMIC’s Summer Internship Program is 11 weeks filled with meaningful work, learning sessions and networking opportunities. Our goal is to help prepare our interns for their future careers by providing them with hands on experience related to their field of study. This is a paid internship and students can receive credit toward their degree. The program will begin on June 6th and end on August 19th. This internship will be full-time (37.5 hours per week).
The Claim Compliance Intern will work with the team to create a compliance repository with jurisdictional outlines of current rules laws and regulations which will be used as reference material and a guide for training. Part of this project will include organizing and purging compliance folders in ImageRight and the Claim department drive.
Responsibilities:
- Organizes and purges outdated documents in ImageRight compliance folders.
- Organizes and purges outdated documents in Claim Department Drive folders.
- Updates and creates jurisdictional outlines for the states MEMIC is licensed in for claim handling and compliance reference in coordination with the compliance team.
- Researches state specific rules, regulations and laws.
- Researches EDI related requirements and updates jurisdictional sketches with EDI specific content.
Requirements:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree. Information Technology majors preferred.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Must have strong attention to detail.
- Ability to problem-solve and exercise critical thinking are essential.
- Ability to manage time and resources to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently.
