Job Summary
Position responsible for providing expert level support of complex network components, as well as advanced network planning and assessment.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree preferred, not required
Licenses/Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Professional or equivalent certification/experience
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Five (5) years of network level experience in a medium to large network environment (500 to 30,000 nodes) and one (1) year of experience with configuration and troubleshooting of workstation or server network components
- Ability to configure, troubleshoot, and optimize complex network components such as switches and routers
- Understanding of the advanced concepts and interrelations of all topologies and protocols in the OSI model, as well as project management tools, framework, and methodologies
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and mentor project team members and Network Engineers

Principal Accountabilities
- Installs, configures, and maintains complex network components such as switches, bridges, routers, VPN server and firewalls.
- Assesses, diagnoses, and resolves complex network problems utilizing advanced capabilities of network analysis tools such as the Network Associates Sniffer; trains other Network Engineers on the resolution of complex problems.
- Provides highly skilled direction in the planning of complex networks, including logical network planning and security architecture.
- Leads project teams through implementation of large, complex projects from project conceptualization through implementation and project acceptance.
- Leads complex research and development efforts associated with the network.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
