Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications: This opportunity is full-time during 1st shift. Position Summary The Core Lab Supervisor oversees the daily operation of the laboratory for the hours assigned, with an emphasis on quality assurance, operations, human resources management, leadership and interpretive skills to provide quality laboratory results to facilitate patient care management. Principle Accountabilities / Responsibilities Organizes and coordinates services provided, oversees operations, and manages staff and budget in accordance with laboratory’s policies and procedures Responsible for strategic development: develops staff to meet new and existing goals Responsible for scheduling, training, time-keeping management and on-going evaluation of all staff reporting to them Works on interdisciplinary teams and projects to further the overall goals of the organization Performs all assays according to the laboratory's protocols and procedures, establishes validity test results, accurately transcribes, reviews and reports tests results, performs all necessary computer functions in order to manage tests data, verify test procedures, and establish the laboratory's performance criteria. Analyzes laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results. Performs routine maintenance, calibration, and standardization on all instruments within an established time frame and keeps accurate and up to date records of such performance and quality control checks. Recognizes any malfunction of instruments and takes immediate corrective action to restore proper operation of the instrument(s). Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent preferred and completion of an AMA-approved program of Medical Technology. Experience Knowledge of laboratory procedures as normally acquired through a minimum of 6 years of laboratory experience. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required. Licensure, Registration, Certification Certification or eligible by ASCP or equivalent TN supervisory license required Physical Requirements Work requires some physical effort. Frequent walking, sitting, standing, typing, grasping, and twisting with both hands. Lifting or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) is required. Environmental Conditions Work involves frequent exposure to unpleasant working conditions or undesirable elements, may involve exposure to a variety or elements which are potentially hazardous or harmful which require exercise of well-defined precautions for protection from injury or illness.
