MEnD Correctional Care PLLC is hiring a strong Registered Nurse to join our team. As a company, we pride ourselves on providing high quality care to the patients we serve. The Registered Nurse will provide care in collaboration with the Supervisory Nurse, Nursing Director, and Medical Provider.

BENEFITS:
Benefits: Your employee benefits will start the first of the month following 30 days of full-time employment. Our Health insurance plans are currently offered by United Healthcare and MEnD currently will pay 80% of the premium for the Base Medical plan and other costs apply for the other two (2) medical plans.
We offer other benefit plans that include vision, and dental insurance (MEnD pays 100% for Employee Only) and other costs apply. You will be responsible for any premiums for electing additional Life/Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), short term disability, long term disability, Heath Savings Account, Additional Life Insurance, Accidental Insurance, and Critical Illness.
Life Insurance: MEnD pays 100% of a Basic Life/AD&D with $25,000 coverage.
401K: You are eligible to participate in the 401(k) program once you complete 90 days of employment and the employer matching begins after one (1) year of employment. You will become fully vested after one (1) year.
Paid time off (PTO) Available to Full Time Employees: You are currently eligible to accrue 4 or 5 hours of paid time off per pay period that will accrue upon hire. PTO CASHOUT – ALLOWED TWICE A YEAR!!!!!
Job Duties:
- Responsible for daily medical operations of assigned jail.
- Liaison between Jail Administration and MEnD clinic regarding inmate grievances.
- Responsible to ensure all quarterly data and quality control checks are completed, documented, and forwarded to Corporate as needed in a timely manner.
- Ensures all medications, sharps, tools, glucometers, other items are counted, calibrated, and checked as scheduled in jails without lead health tech
- Assists with special projects and attend additional meetings as assigned by nursing director.
- Assists medical provider during clinic rounds.
- Coordinates the medical care of county jail inmates utilizing MEnD Correctional Care’s nursing policies, procedures, and protocols. These processes include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of inmate’s health issues.
- Collaborates and communicates effectively with the MEnD Correctional Care team. This team includes medical providers, nurses, health techs, administrative assistants. The nurse is also responsible for communicating between the medical unit and the correctional staff in the facilities we serve.
- Accountable for the daily documentation, tracking, procedures, orders, medications, and follow-up of the inmates’ care.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publication, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks, being a member of the MEnD team, assisting with expansion of the MEnD jail health philosophy, and going “above and beyond” typical job duties.
- Other various duties as assigned by MEnD Correctional Care within the scope of the position. This may include travel to various trade shows, conferences, and other jails managed by MEnD, etc.
Job Skills:
- Able to provide independent, critical thinking skills necessary for the nursing role in the jail setting
- Understand and possess pharmacology, safety, and nursing skills necessary to perform the nurse role.
- Must be able to deal effectively with difficult patients at times.
- Ability to learn the security features needed to work safely in this setting which includes secured doors and radio communications.
- Demonstrates ability to adjust medical techniques to accommodate the needs of the specialized population of the jail setting. This includes communication between medical staff and jail staff about the care of the inmate while understanding and adjusting for the unique security issues of the jail
Requirements:
Valid Registered Nurse license
Basic Life Support (CPR) Certified
