Job Overview
A paraprofessional / bookkeeper will work under the direction of experienced professionals to help deliver quality accounting services to our clients. This position offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
Basic Function: The bookkeeper position creates financial transactions and generates reports from that information. The creation of financial transactions includes posting information to accounting journals or accounting software from such source documents as invoices to customers, cash receipts, and supplier invoices. Employee will also reconciles accounts to ensure their accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions; ensure legal requirements compliance.
- Develops system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; defining bookkeeping policies and procedure.
- Maintains subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transaction.
- Balances subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
- Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries.
- Balances general ledger by preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
- Maintains historical records by filing documents.
- Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Process payroll in a timely manner.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Develop standards and analyze information.
- Maintain confidentiality of data.
Qualifications:
- Knowledgeable of standards of financial accounting standards (SFAS Rules)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- CPA certification (is a plus)
- Bookkeeping experience, preferred
- Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) (required)
