Job Description: Success as a Creative Director is achieved when… You have experienced every phase of a project cycle in the capacity of a creative leader You have modeled all forms of communication in a healthy and productive manner. This includes consistent, productive feedback with your teams, asking questions, speaking up when needed, clarifying priorities, advocating for the team, etc. Everyone on the Project Team has a clear understanding of the creative vision. All team members should be able to explain the high level points of what the project seeks to creatively accomplish All team members clearly understand the reasons that led to each major decision You have proven your ability to pivot when new limitations or challenges arise (budgets, schedules, prototypes, R&D, etc.). You are able to be both decisive & influential, taking an active role in discussions and decision making. The overall experience design is well thought out, intentional, and ultimately impactful. This means that the partnership between aesthetics, narrative, and all sensory experiences work together. You have consistently and actively considered how one guest will interact with the spaces alone, and how thousands of guests will experience each space together. The Project Team consistently sees you as being solutions-oriented, having a calm demeanor, being an engaging mentor, and a nonstop source of inspiration for your team. To be successful in this role… In a supervisory capacity, has proven ability to communicate creative priorities with all team members, and ask clarifying questions if direction is unclear Proven success with leading creative teams, including: artists, vendors, contractors, designers, makers, partners Proven experience & knowledge around holistic experiential design Proven success with Adobe Creative Suite, 2D and 3D drawing and imaging applications Experience with multiple art mediums or other creative fields (color theory, physical model making, painting techniques, materiality, digital painting) Proven experience with site-specific art installations (lighting, sound, texture, materiality) Ideal attributes in a candidate would be friendliness, patience, and comfort working with large, diverse team of people on a daily basis It would be nice to have… A portfolio that showcases your past works 5 years experience working in an artistic field Experience with the production of art, permanent exhibition design and installation DIY experience a plus Experience with logistics, storage, safety and durability of interactive art exhibitions Proven expertise with Google Suite, Excel/Sheets, Microsoft Office, and project management software Essential tools to set you up for success… You will need to utilize software and programs that your project team uses on a regular basis. The main focus areas are A) the ability to communicate regularly with your project team and the larger Meow Wolf company, B) having access to documents - and creating documents - for your project use, such as presentations, red-lining drawings, etc. and finally C) making sure you have access to important schedule and budget information. Please see some examples below: Airtable, Miro, Mural are mainly used as collaborative programs to help brainstorm and work with your project team. 3D Software familiarity will help you easily translate downplans of exhibitions and spaces to provide feedback, make edits, and understand spacial design The Google Suite will be your primary source of documentation: shared documents for your scope, ways to track updates, and ways to stay up to date with budgets. Asana, Gantt Software, and the Microsoft Suite will mainly be used to help track budgets, data gathering, etc. The Creative Direction Team mainly works with Apple Hardware (Macbooks) - but we do not limit you to the hardware you are familiar with, if you can still access the project files needed for your role. Experience with the above example software programs are appreciated Work environment & physical demands… Position is located in Santa Fe, NM. This is a full-time position averaging 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm MT or 10 am to 6 pm MST – occasionally requiring flexibility to work during evenings or weekends based on business needs, as well as travel to off-site locations.
