What are the responsibilities and job description for the QCO Safety Specialist position at Merakey?
Position Summary
The Safety Specialist's role within the QCO is to support a culture where safety is a partnership between Merakey employees and the individuals we serve. Their responsibilities include participating in local safety initiatives, following up safety related issues including complaints, claims and compliance and serving as a subject matter expert for questions, consults or trainings.
Successful candidate will reside in any of the established Merakey states (CA, DE, LA, MD, MI, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TN, TX, VA).
Duties
- Participates as a medical professional in the peer review process acting as subject matter expert on the review of historical medical care, identifying, and communicating systemic opportunities for improvement.
- Safety and Fleet policy writing, development, and implementation.
- Prepare recommendations on reducing incidents using data and trends and assist with implementation.
- Investigate and/or perform a Root Cause Analysis on significant employee, consumer, or site injury events and assist programs in developing Measurable Improvement Plans designed to prevent future occurrences.
- Follow up on cases assigned through QCO Intake, maintaining up to date case information in the QCOMS database.
- Work with other groups within the QCO as needed to create companywide improvements as projects are identified through incident reporting and trending of data.
- Assist in developing and/or providing any necessary Job Hazard Analysis or safety trainings identified to meet compliance and safety initiatives as directed.
- Participate in local safety committee meetings on a regular basis.
- Conduct safety and security audits to ensure compliance with company policy, regulatory agencies, and OSHA. Monitor these audits to ensure improvements have been completed.
- Serve on the Corporate Safety Committee.
- Accompany insurance carrier on site audits conducted as assigned.
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:- Approved, licensed, or otherwise regulated to practice or operate in the health care field in Pennsylvania as a CNP, LPN, RN, or other similar position.
- Knowledge of medications, mental health diagnoses, physical health diagnoses and best medical practices.
- Available for overnight travel up to 20% of the time.
- Driver's License and own vehicle required.
- Fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption.
