Job Summary:
This position will provide guidance and consultation on a variety of legal matters including but not limited to employment law, general litigation, and employment-related matters.
Essential Job Functions for the Employment Counsel will include:
- Researching and advising on employment law matters
- Drafting, revising, and negotiating the terms of employment-related documents
- Participating in internal investigations, as well as the navigation and resolution of employment disputes
- Assisting in creating and revising both national and state-specific employment policies
- Participating in resolving, and/or preparing for litigation in, non-employment disputes in their pre-litigation stages
- Management of outside counsel in ongoing litigation for both employment and non-employment matters
- Supporting M&A due diligence efforts (related to employment and litigation), drafting of M&A-related employment documents, and post-deal integration
- Maintaining a current working knowledge of new laws and regulatory developments
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.)
- Licensed to practice law in at least one state (Colorado preferred)
- 1 to 3 years of litigation experience in a law firm or in-house legal department
- Experience in employment law
- Financial services experience preferred
- Strong drafting, research and writing skills
- Knowledge of and experience with federal securities law including the Investment Advisor Act of 1940 preferred
- Ability to work effectively with teams and independently, as well as manage and prioritize multiple projects
- Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills
Work Schedule
Daytime and evening hours as needed
Working Conditions
Professional office environment. Working inside. Standing and sitting. Will be assigned to a workstation. No heavy lifting over 10 lbs.
Salary
Employee will be eligible for annual bonus compensation programs.
