Job Title: Faculty, Biology Department: Biology College/Division: College Of Liberal Arts And Sciences Primary Job Posting Location: Macon, GA 31207 Additional Job Posting Locations: (Other locations that this position could be based) Job Details: The Department of Biology at Mercer University seeks to hire a tenure-track Faculty of Biology in the broad area of molecular biology. This position is full time as a nine-month faculty position that requires teaching, scholarship, and service. Rank to be determined based on experience and degree. Responsibilities: Responsibilities include teaching five to six courses (21 hours) per academic year at the undergraduate level, including the molecular-based introductory biology course, an intermediate genetics course, and upper division specialty courses according to the applicant’s area of expertise. In addition, the successful candidate will support the work of the department by carrying out biological research with undergraduates, advising students, developing new courses in the discipline, and promoting the Biology Program at regular university events. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue a scholarship of discovery agenda and provide service to the college, university, and academy. Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. degree in Biological Science or related field from an accredited college/university is required. Candidates who have a degree with a strong emphasis in a field related to molecular biology are strongly preferred. Exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date before August 1, 2024 will also be considered. We are also interested in applicants who can contribute to our interdisciplinary majors of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and of Neuroscience.
