Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Account Executive (AE) is to develop and manage business relationships with US-based Distributor, Retail Pharmacy, In-Store / Retail Clinic and Specialty Pharmacy customers, and their subsidiaries. This assignment will engage with designated national and regional Retail and Specialty Pharmacies across a variety of therapeutic areas and business issues.
The primary focus is optimization of patient outcomes related to the appropriate use of our medicines and vaccines for their indicated health conditions. Relevant business issues with pharmacy customers include product access, packaging, adherence, and product integrity (pedigree, track & trace, anti-counterfeit). This Account Executive also plays a critical role in managing master services agreements (MSAs) with vendors that implement approved adherence and acquisition programs in retail and specialty pharmacies.
This Account Executive works closely with personnel from our Order Management Center, IAM Customer Management & Channel team, Manufacturing Division Supply Chain Management, US Market Sales teams, and other areas across the company to ensure product access and availability to customers.
Specific job responsibilities include:
Account and business planning (strategic and tactical) for the entire portfolio of our companies’ medicines and vaccines for assigned customers
Accountable for individual account performance against strategic, financial, and product access objectives
Collaborates with the customer team to identify and pursue areas of mutual opportunity to support the achievement of better health outcomes for patients
Education Minimum Requirement:
BS/BA Required
R.Ph./Pharm.D. Desired
MBA Preferred
Required Experience and Skills:
Minimum 5 years of combined Managed Care related experience at the Associate Director/Director level (e.g., Customer Team Leader, Managed Care Marketing, Contracting, Planning)
Minimum 3 years of Managed Care experience in an account executive/leader role
Demonstrated business acumen and account management skills
Broad and deep understanding of managed markets, health care trends and policy, specialty pharmacy, and pharmaceutical distribution channels
Strategic and tactical planning skills
Consultative selling skills with clinical and scientific knowledge
Project management skills
Candidates should be self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to drive business results, solve problems, effectively communicate (oral and written), collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and build diverse business relationship networks
Willingness to travel ~ 50% overnight travel
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Preferred experience in pharmaceutical distribution, specialty distribution, and/or retail, mail, or specialty pharmacy. Preferred skills include account planning, business planning, contracting strategy, contract negotiations, and strong collaboration skills.
