What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Trainer position at Mercury Systems?
If you have strong technical skills combined with the desire and experience to train and develop others, then this is the role for you. As part of the Signal Solutions Business Unit, you will have the opportunity to develop Mercury’s technician and assembler talent and build our talent pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Development, maintain, and deliver technical content and courseware for technicians and assemblers. Ensure thatall training is current and the training for skills and knowledge required.
- Identify the best approach to training, including, but not limited to hands-on, simulation, videos, on-line, self-paced, etc.
- Create assessment to evaluate learning effectiveness and instructional improvement opportunities.
- Manage the Technician Apprentice Program, ensuring successful completion of employees enrolled in the program, while providing guidance and mentorship to those employees
- Facilitate training or partner with subject matter to deliver RF technician and assembler training
- Assess other training needs and make recommendations for needed training
- Partner with Mercury’s Leaning and Development team regarding best practices
- Roll-out Lean training – 7S – initial and continuous training to operations team
- Research and apply for state and federal training grants
- May support the production floor during peak periods
Requirements
- 7 years proven experience as technical electronics trainer
- Degree in a relevant technical field
- Experience in instructional design for technical subjects
- Ability to address training needs through a combination of coursework and practical, hands-on, or self-paced training.
- Working knowledge in MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
- Outstanding communication skills and comfortable speaking to groups of employees
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
Preferred
Certification such as CTT (Certified Technical Trainer) is a strong asset
Experience training in an electronics manufacturing organization, preferable aerospace and defense
Prior experience course authoring tools such as Brainshark, Articulate, or Captivate
Technician experience
Lean 6sigma green belt and 6sigma training
Experience as technical trainer in an RF/Microwave organization
