Job Summary:
Performs routine and advanced therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as outlined by the AARC, NBRC, KBRC, Infection Control, department policy and procedure manual. Proficient in all modalities of the hospital including critical medicine, ventilator management and arterial blood gas testing. Adheres to the mission and values of Lourdes involving customer service.
Job Functions:
Performs assessment and therapeutic modalities for patients of all ages as prescribed by physician utilizing standards set by AARC and department policy and procedures.
Demonstrates proficiency in all areas of critical care including assessing and recognition of abnormalities and documentation of notifying the physician.
Responds to all emergency situations such as Rapid Response Team alerts, codes in a timely and professional manner.
Correctly sets up and maintains necessary equipment utilized by respiratory care. Acts as a resource for other staff members to assure appropriate care is delivered
Assures the appropriate information exchange "hand off" during shift change report. Assures appropriate documentation of all therapies and diagnostic procedures.
Successfully completes annual competencies and hospital based modules on line as required.
Accepts and performs additional assignments in a positive and professional manner
Complies with and is knowledgeable of hospital and department policies and procedures. Participates in hospital and department performance improvement initiatives.
Utilizes computer system as needed for information and maintains customer rights such as confidentiality, privacy, safety, etc.
Adapts easily to changes in the work assignments and environment
Education:
Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy
Maintains NBRC and KBRC
