What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMS Coordinator position at Mercy Health?
Responsible for planning, organizing, and evaluating pre-hospital care activities for the westside market. Serves as a liaison between pre-hospital care providers, EMS students and the emergency department staff. Represents the westside emergency departments on internal and external committees involving pre-hospital care. Promotes quality pre-hospital and emergency care by being a role model and resource person to pre-hospital and emergency department staff. Coordinates instructional/educational activity for the EMS community. Keeps abreast of EMS protocols, policies, and laws.
- Maintains open communication with EMS agencies serving as the conduit between the ED and the EMS agencies.
- Provides EMS education including scheduling of paramedic students.
- Represents the west market at regional EMS Coordinator meetings and Hamilton County EMS meetings.
- Routinely rounds on EMS agencies within the market.
- Plans and executes activities for EMS week/keeps EMS room supplied.
- Solicits and responds promptly to EMS follow ups.
- Maintains and expands current knowledge base related to EMS.
- Responsible for follow up on EMS blood born exposures.
- Works closely with the ED staff to resolve issues between the ED and EMS.
- Markets Mercy West, Western Hills, and Harrison to EMS.
Required Minimum Education: Vocational/ Technical Degree
Preferred Education: 2 year associate degree
Required: National Paramedic Certification; ACLS; PALS; BLS
Preferred: Paramedic Instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor Paramedic Instructor; ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor
