Overview:
This role includes a wide range of tasks, such as receiving service of process paperwork, maintaining the claims database and files, managing the legal hold process, and supporting discovery requirements.
- Serve as point of contact for the Risk/Claims/Insurance Department.
- Manage service of process intake, including reviewing legal documents and other materials for completeness, accuracy and compliance with rules.
- Process deposition requests, regulatory board inquiries, and other legal correspondence related to Risk, Claims, and Insurance.
- Circulate documents to appropriate points of contact and assist Legal Counsel in responding appropriately.
- Manage the "litigation hold" process for the department by preparing and sending notices, following up with custodians and assisting with custodian interviews.
- Manage and maintain information needed for mandatory reporting to government/regulatory agencies.
- Facilitate acquisition, copying, filing and delivery of documents to outside attorneys and state and federal agencies
- Coordinate and assist attorneys in gathering information to respond to discovery requests and subpoenas.
- Perform research on risk and legal related matters as needed.
- Keep cases organized by establishing and organizing files, tracking deadlines, inputting information into electronic databases and claims management software.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Experience: One year legal and/or claims administration experience
- Required Education: Associate's degree or Paralegal degree/certificate
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree

Preferred Experience: Experience with healthcare/medical malpractice claims management.
Preferred Certification: Legal, claims and/or insurance certification. - Other: Basic knowledge of legal, medical, and technical terminology. Ability to read and interpret legal documents of varying type and complexity.
