Overview:
The position is responsible for leading and managing Health Information Management efforts, including, but not limited to, automation of data, collection of data including registry data, retrieval of records, coding of records, release of information, scanning and indexing of records, analysis of records for deficiencies, and storage of data/records to support patient care and the revenue cycle. Responsibilities include monitoring the quality of health information management processes, management of multiple projects, and maintaining facility readiness for JCAHO surveys as well as other regulatory agencies audits. The Health Information Manager will coordinate deployment of health information best practices and work closely with physicians on physician-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent. R.H.I.T., R.H.I.A. or related degree required.
- Preferred Education: Bachelors Degree preferred.
- Licensure: RHIT, CCS or RHIA.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of prior experience as a health information manager in a large acute care facility.
- Certifications: None.
- Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, self-starting, independent individual, highly motivated and organized, a problem solver, requiring little direction.
- Solid business and process management skills and a proven track record. Working knowledge of computer systems and applications including document imaging, financial system, encoder, abstracting system, and other computer application as related to the job.
- Demonstrated excellent attendance record.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: The job will involve monitoring a database on a daily basis to determine the consistency of the flow, and make changes immediately when problems occur. The job will require a person to be able to make quick decisions on a routine basis. The job will be stressful at times, and will involve providing coverage at all times to ensure consistent flow. Equipment Used: computer, printer, software.
