Produces appropriate dimension ultrasonic recordings and doppler flow images of heart and related structures for diagnostic use. Technicians are responsible for operating and caring for diagnostic equipment, working as part of a multidisciplinary team, and serving on committees and/or task forces and participating in projects as needed/requested. He/She may be required to alternate shifts, weekends, holidays, call schedules, flexible hours, and overtime as necessary to ensure the delivery of quality patient care at assigned site(s).
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform echocardiograms per standard imaging protocol, measure per ASE standards, provide appropriate and adequate procedures while accurately providing high quality, safe patient care.
- Actively works in Echo/Stress/TEE/Call Coverage.
- Recognizes arrhythmias and/or takes appropriate action by notifying physician if EKG reads abnormal.
- Assess the quality of electrocardiographic and echocardiography recordings and correct deficiencies when possible. If unable to correct deficiencies, document on the graphic recording. Provide the physician with technical comments of diagnostic findings upon completion of the echocardiogram and review and discuss discrepancies of technical comments.
- Document patient and procedural information in the patient medical record completely including patient history form. Completes all chargeith at least 98% accuracy.
- Educate the patient and family (as applicable) about the procedure and document the education in the patient record.
- Utilize equipment according to established procedures and refer to manuals as needed. “notify proper chain of command of all equipment malfunction/failures and process necessary documentation.
- Ensure inventory and medical supplies are ordered or let appropriate partner know when supplies are low.
- Participate in all quality assurance and quality improvement projects
- Attend a minimum of 70% of dept. educational programs and 70% of staff meetings. Attend all mandatory in-services or schedule makeup sessions.
- Assume personal responsibility for continuing education and maintenance of pertinent certifications and licensure.

Education and Experience
Associate’s Degree from an accredited program required AND/OR
Certification/Licensure
CPR CertificationRDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) by the ARDMS Board or RCS by the CCI Board registered or registry eligible.Must obtain RCS registration in adult echo within six (6) months.
