Overview
Inputs patient meal selections and checks nourishments according to time and diet order. Creates labels for nourishments. Processes diet orders for patients in timely manner. Answers phones and retrieves computer messages. Assists patients with meal selections and verifies selections according to diet order. Organizes tasks to meet set deadlines. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of the approved diet manual; product formulary; EPIC patient care system; DFM Room Service system and production. Works closely with clinical nutrition personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Processes new diets and changes in timely manner as required from EPIC into DFM system. Charges guest trays through EPIC (if applicable)
- Maintains a thorough working knowledge of the approved Mercyhealth diets and supplements EPIC patient care system; DFM Room Service system and production.
- Prints patient count before each meal.
- Creates labels for nourishments.
- Answers telephone calls, retrieves computer messages and relays information to kitchen concerning meal changes, complaints, or patient discharge.
- Assists patients with meal selections and verifies selections according to diet order.
- Assist patient’s family and nursing staff with orders.
- Excellent customer service skills needed when answering phone and talking with patient and family members - while using proper scripting.
- Maintains paper supplies and other stock as needed for area.
- Work positively with other call center personnel and dietitians.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferredOne year experience in food service department preferredCertification/Licensure
