As the last person our customers interact with in stores, you’re tasked with the great responsibility of creating a lasting and positive memory of their MERS Goodwill shopping experience. By always maintaining a positive and professional attitude, and working to deliver excellent customer service that addresses all the customer’s needs while getting them through the check-out process quickly and easily. Our cashiers are key in helping us provide a world-class shopping experience to our customers.
Qualifications:
No educational requirements. Ability to speak English effectively to respond to questions from customers, donors, team members, and leadership. Basic math skills preferred.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- May operate the POS system and credit card machine, assist customers in answering questions.
- Make customers a priority by greeting and acknowledging them as they enter the store, helping on the sales floor, and answering the phone within three rings with a professional greeting.
- Operates the store cash register: cash handling credit card transactions, appropriate discounts returns and cash register balancing.
- Request assistance from managers for returns, exchanges, and customer complaints.
- Promotes retail sales, promotions, and special projects.
- Stocks straighten, rotate, and maintain cleanliness of the store, to include sales floor, warehouse, and donation dock, in an efficient manner to adhere to Goodwill Retail Procedures.
- Upholds cleanliness standards of the store by sweeping, dusting, mopping, and/or shining surfaces.
- Establishes and maintains positive and professional relationships with team members and leadership.
- Safeguards agency asserts including, cash, donated items, purchased items, from harm, damage, or theft. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of agency assets.
- Must adhere to all MERS/Goodwill policies and Goodwill Retail procedures as well as safety and security regulations.
- All other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 40 pounds and push and pull loads of 50 pounds.
- Full range of motion, bending-lifting-twisting-pulling-and pushing.
- Ability to stand for periods of time up to 4 hours.
- Frequently working in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
