About the role
We are immediately seeking two additional Materials Scientists to join our team in Pleasanton, California. You will play a key role in contributing to multiple customer programs, formulating functional materials and coatings, fabricated using cutting edge chemical preparation equipment and process technology. This role will initially be supporting the design and development of electro-optical nano-structured materials for high value/margin products and growth opportunities. Our customer’s markets include, Transportation, Displays, Healthcare and Energy. From breakthrough R&D to commercialization, this is a rare opportunity to enhance our established electro-optical platform technology, in multiple breakthrough customer applications all the way through to full production.
Key responsibilities:
- Formulation of organic nano-composites composed of liquid crystals, photo responsive reagents and other additives for applications in electro-optic based products.
- Support a multi-disciplinary team for fabrication of switchable devices.
Required qualifications:
- BS in chemistry, materials science or a related field.
- Proven experience and understanding of chemical formulations and chemical processing techniques.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starting, enthusiastic but practical in developing new technologies.
Desired relevant experience:
- Proven experience safe handling of organic monomers, polymers and LC’s.
- Optical and electrical characterization of thin film material systems and or LC devices.
- Formulating with nanoparticles.
- Formulating holographic photopolymers or phase separable nanocomposites.
- Fast technical and/or scientific document generation/modification.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to align priorities in accordance with business goals meeting customer deadlines, in a fast-paced environment.
